Globus Group included in The Sunday Times 100
7th July 2022

Manchester based PPE company Globus Group has been included in The Sunday Times 100 – a new list of Britain’s fastest-growing private companies.

The company, which has three decades of heritage, was recognised for outstanding growth as it responded to the Covid-19 pandemic by reshoring its manufacturing base – creating over 1000 jobs and building three new UK factories.

Over the past 12 months, Globus has made significant commitments on sustainability, with a plan to be net zero by 2027. As part of its drive to build a circular economy for PPE, it has entered into partnerships with Heriot Watt University and Imperial College NHS Trust to turn the millions of items of used PPE into new products for the NHS. Another crucial part of its strategy for both net zero and UK resilience is the in-country production of raw materials, including meltblown polypropylene, the virus filtering material used in its FFP2 and IIR facemasks, at the company’s newly built factory in Dumfries, Scotland.

As well as increasing production in the UK, Globus also has factories in Germany and Italy which support manufacturing across the group’s range of products for multiple industrial sectors, including aerospace, construction and the oil and gas industry as well as healthcare.

Group CEO Haraldur Agustsson said: “UK manufacturing is absolutely vital to ensuring resilience of supply, product quality and job creation. We are hugely proud of the way that everyone across our business stepped up over the course of the pandemic to support frontline NHS workers in England and Scotland and help keep them safe in the fight against Covid-19. A key lesson of these past two years is that using high grade, UK made PPE doesn’t just save lives – it can save the NHS more than £200m a year by preventing the spread of infections and reducing staff sickness.

‘’We’re also as passionate about protecting our environment as we are about delivering solutions for our customers. This is why we’re making a series of really challenging commitments that are at the heart of our plans for not only being the best and one of the biggest PPE companies in the world but also, and more importantly, the most sustainable”
