Skye Hughes, a young individual with autism, joined Alpha Solway in January 2022 as part of our partnership with The Usual Place, a cafe providing opportunities for young people with additional support needs, South of Scotland Enterprise and Dumfries and Galloway Council.

From a work placement to a permanent member of the team, Skye has flourished within her role of production operator at our Dumfries factory.

With aspirations to one day become a team leader and supported by professionals across the business Skye has already begun to enhance her skills and turn her hands to different forms of engineering in and around the factory.
