EN 14605:2005 +A1:2009 (Type 3)
European standard that specifies the requirements for protective clothing against liquid chemicals. This standard covers both spray-tight and liquid-tight chemical protective clothing.
The standard defines two main types of protective clothing, based on the level of protection against liquid chemicals:
Type 3 (Liquid-Tight Clothing)
- Protects against liquid chemicals that are applied under pressure.
- Ensures liquid-tight seams to prevent liquids from penetrating the suit under high pressure.
- Example: Suits used for hazardous chemical spills or during decontamination processes.
Type 4 (Spray-Tight Clothing)
- Protects against liquid chemicals in the form of sprays or aerosols.
- Ensures spray-tight seams to prevent liquid aerosols or low-pressure sprays from entering the suit.
- Example: Suits used in environments with chemical mists or low-pressure splashes.
Additional Markings:
- Type 3-B or Type 4-B: The "B" indicates additional protection against biological agents.
